Hailed by the Los Angeles Times as “bracingly contemporary,” Raiford Rogers Modern Ballet is an inspiring ensemble of dancers that breaks the traditional mold and reinvigorates this classic medium.
A favorite of the Luckman stage, Raiford Rogers Modern Ballet will present the full-length ballet,
Naivete of Flowers (Acts 1 & 2), set to the music of Lloyd Rodgers. The choreography accents the composer’s post-minimalist style, so the performers reveal a sense of freedom filling the stage with beautiful imagery using a movement style strongly rooted in classical ballet, all while moving boldly forward into new territory with cutting-edge choreography they are lauded for. Artist Mike Nava has created a series of projected paintings for the ballet’s backdrop.
