Celebrate Mexican Independence Day with Latin Grammy-nominated Mariachi Herencia de México, presenting Herederos. Simultaneously honoring the past, celebrating the present, and creating the future of mariachi music, Mariachi Herencia de México presents an unforgettable experience of Mexican music and culture. The historic tradition of mariachi music has its roots of origin in cities such as Guadalajara and Mexico City. As the ever-evolving genre’s influence spread, it reached Chicago and birthed the Mariachi Herencia de México. The energetic, virtuosic group has issued chart-topping albums, performed around the globe, and had their chart-topping sophomore album produced by Javier Limón. The concert will be preceded by special performances, beginning at 6:00 pm, featuring the historic Mexico-based wind ensemble La Banda de Tlayacapan and the Los Angeles-based folklórico group Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company.La Banda de Tlayacapan is one of the oldest continuously performing bands in the world, with origins dating back to the 1870’s. Known for an outstanding and diverse repertoire that has been passed down from generation to generation, La Banda de Tlayacapan is one of the most unique and cultural musical groups in the world.Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company is Los Angeles’ preeminent folkloric dance troupe featuring more than 30 dancers of all ages. The company was formed to advance the field of Mexican folk ballet, enhance the public’s appreciation for the diversity and depth of Mexican culture, and to present high-quality productions that celebrate Mexico’s dance traditions.
