World Arts Day is designed to give the community an opportunity to experience and interact with various art forms from around the world. This year, in collaboration with the World Festival of Sacred Music, we present Burat Wangi and Sekar Jaya in the Mebarung, a Balinese traditional dance competition, and Makoto Taiko, a sensational Japanese drumming ensemble.

In addition to these dynamic performances the Luckman will present unique and innovative workshops. Iota Center will premiere their workshop Digital Cumbia and Analog Animation allowing attendees to “scratch on film” with a projection of the original works set to the sounds of digital cumbia performed by South American artists Papá Cuy and Muñeca e burro. The Luckman welcomes Raw Bites Happy Food with a workshop all about the love and tradition of chocolate! Chef Julie Titus will educate attendees on the ancient uses of the cacao bean from Mayan and Aztec cultures, along with guiding hands-on demonstrations while preparing spicy Mexican cacao smoothies, salad dressing, and cacao dipped fruit. Other World Arts Day workshops include screen-printing and Indonesian mask-making.

Available for purchase during the event will be Native American fusion cuisine brought to you by Auntie’s Fry Bread!
